
Division I
Ann Kolkmeyer of Lakota East High School has been awarded the Division I Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association College Scholarship for 2007. Ann is the daughter of Robert and Carolyn Kolkmeyer of Liberty Township, Ohio. Ann receives a $500 award for her academic and athletic accomplishments.
Ann is ranked 19th of 606 with a four year grade point average of 4.3. She plans to attend the Ohio State University to major in Biology.
Ann was a member of many school and community related organizations such as the JCL Latin Club, Peer Mediation, and SACA student government. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Quill and Scroll International Honor Society for Scholastic Journalists. Ann is the managing editor of the school newsmagazine, The Spark. Ann was named the Lakota Optimist Club Teen of the Month for October 2005, received a summa sum laude gold medal on the National Latin Exam and has won departmental awards from the English, Social Studies and Foreign Language departments. She published the 2006 Story of the Year and also received 2nd place in the sports story category for the American Society of Newspaper Editors/National Scholastic Press Association.
Ann was a volleyball letter winner. She received the GMC and District 16 All-Academic awards and also received the Lakota Elite Scholar Athlete Award. Ann was coached by Erin Iceman.
Division II
Emily Borchers of Archbishop Alter High School has been awarded the Division II Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association College Scholarship for 2007. Emily is the daughter of Sam and Andrea Borchers of Kettering, Ohio. Emily receives a $500 award for her academic and athletic accomplishments. Emily is ranked 11th of 220 with a four year grade point average of 4.10. She plans to attend Wheeling Jesuit University to major in Pre-Physical Therapy. Emily was a member of many school and community related organizations such as the Key Club and Spanish Club. Emily is a student ambassador. She volunteers in a nursing home and the St. Henry Parish Nursery, and serves as a CYO Volleyball Coach. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. For 10 years Emily has helped coordinate teams and kids' crafts for the annual Ellen Borchers Memorial Volleyball Tournament which raises funds for medical research for the United Leukodystrophy Foundation.

Archbishop Alter High School
Emily played basketball for two years and earned two varsity letters in swimming. For all four of her high school years she received first honors and has been named an OHSVCA Scholar Athlete. Emily is the Archbishop Alter Female Athlete Nominee for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award and is the Rae Burick Award Honoree.
Emily played on the 2003 and 2006 State Championship Volleyball Teams. She was named Most Outstanding Team Player and District 15 Player of the Year in 2005. In 2005 and 2006 Emily was named 1st Team All-GGCL, All-District, All-Area, and All-State. In 2006 she participated in the OHSVCA Senior All-Star Match. Emily was coached by Tina Jasinowski.
The Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association College Scholarship is awarded annually to a player from one of its coaching members' schools. The student-athlete must be in good academic standing with plans to continue her education after high school.
Division III
Mallory Earich of
Westfall High School has been awarded the Division III Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association College Scholarship for 2007. Mallory is the daughter of Mel and Kristen Earich of Williamsport, Ohio. Mallory receives a $500 award for her academic and athletic accomplishments.
Mallory is ranked 1st of 101 with a four year grade point average of 4.0. She plans to attend Shawnee State University to major in Biology.
Mallory was a member of many school and community related organizations such as the Pickaway County Junior Fair Board, 4-H Camp counselor, Ohio and National Junior Angus Association, Ohio Cattleman's Association, Ohio and National FFA Foundation, STAMP mentor and Head Start Mentor. She is also the president of the National Honor Society. Mallory serves as the president, treasurer and reporter of FFA, and vice-president, treasurer and reporter of 4-H.
Mallory has received awards from the Chemistry, Life Science, American Studies, English, and Physical Education departments. She is a delegate to the Buckeye Girls State and Pickaway County Youth Leadership and Rotary Moral and Values Conference attendee. Mallory has received many awards including: two 1 st place district beef proficiency, silver rating beef proficiency, Pickaway County Outstanding Beef Exhibitor, three time state qualifier in Livestock Judging, and 1 st Place Market Beef and two 1 st Place Showmanship. She also was named County Beef Queen.
Mallory is a member of the basketball team. She also plays club volleyball for SOVC. She is her schools Wendy's High School Heisman Award nominee.
Mallory is a three year letter winner and has served as team captain for two years. She played on teams that have reached the State Final Four for three years and have won a SVC League Championship. Mallory holds two school serving records and is a two year winner of the Team Mustang Award. She was named Honorable Mention all-league for two years and 3 rd Team All-District this past season. Mallory was coached by Lori Merriman.Division IV
Kim Workman
of Southeastern High School has been awarded the Division IV Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association College Scholarship for 2007. Kim is the daughter of Russell and Julie Workman of South Charleston, Ohio. Kim receives a $500 award for her academic and athletic accomplishments.
Kim is ranked 1st of 61 with a four year grade point average of 4.402. She plans to attend Cedarville University to major in Biology.
Kim was a member of many school and community related organizations such as the Future Educators of America, Student Council, Young Life, Teen Bible Study, and Sunday school. She is also the president of the National Honor Society. Kim has received the Perfect Attendance Award, OHC Scholar-Athlete Award, Strive for Excellence Award and the Honda Math Medal. Kim was also the recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Peacemaker Award, Principal's Leadership Award and was named Sports Quest First Team All-American.
Kim has been named honorable mention all-league in basketball and track. In 2007 she was the senior basketball captain and in 2006 she received the track leadership award.
Kim was named Most Improved Player and honorable mention all-league in 2004. In 2005 she was named team MVP, captain, 1st Team All-League and All-County, 2 nd Team District 9 and All-Area. In 2006 she was named captain, 1st Team All-League, All-County and All-Area, and honorable mention District 9. Kim was coached by Kathy Mercer.
Active Member's Son / Daughter Scholarship
Sara Smith
of Adena High School has been awarded the Active Member's Son / Daughter Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association College Scholarship for 2007. Sara is the daughter of Mike and Laura Smith of Frankfort, Ohio. Laura Smith is the head volleyball coach at Adena High School and active OHSVCA member for twenty-two years. Laura Smith had served as the executive secretary of the OHSVCA for many years. Sara receives a $500 award for her academic and athletic accomplishments.
Sara will graduate 2 nd in her class of 88 with a four year grade point average of 3.86. Sara plans to major in English/Languages in college.
Sara was a member of many school and community related organizations including the First Welsyen Church Youth Group, Co Ed Y Service Organization, FFA, and Prom Decorating Committee. She is a member of the Police Athletic League and volunteers at the Adena Volleyball Camp. Sara is a member of the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society.
Sara has received awards from the following departments: English I, II and III, Art I, Painting, Biology I, Algebra I, Civics, American History, Intro to Tech, Communications, Mythology, and Government. She is a four year OHSVCA Scholar -Athlete, earned Academic SVC honors for three years, and has been on the honor roll all four years. She is a HOBY Leadership Ambassador and Placed 3 rd in the Ross County Art Contest.
Sara played basketball for two years and has run track for three years. Her junior year she placed in the SVC meet in the 1600m run, 3200m run and 3200m relay. She has played on various club volleyball teams throughout her high school career.
Sara was a four year varsity starter in volleyball and was captain in 2005 and 2006. She helped her team to Regional Runner-up finishes in 2003 and 2005 and to State Final Four appearances in 2004 and 2006. She holds school records in many categories and has won the following awards for her team: Golden Spike (4), Kill Club (4), Marvin Seyfang Sportsmanship (2), Most Improved (1) and Will to Win (1). Sara's sophomore and junior years she was named All-SVC and 2 nd Team District 14. Sara's senior year she was named All-SVC, 1 st Team District 14, 3 rd Team All-State and played in the District 14 All-Star Match.
Katie Robinson of Logan Elm High School has been awarded the Active Member's Son / Daughter Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association College Scholarship for 2007. Katie is the daughter of Kelly and Debby Robinson of Circleville, Ohio. Debby Robinson is the head volleyball coach at Logan Elm High School and active OHSVCA member for eleven years. Katie receives a $500 award for her academic and athletic accomplishments.
Katie will graduate 1 st in her class of 174 with a four year grade point average of 4.0. Sara plans to attend Otterbein College and major in Professional Health Science.
Katie was a member of many school and community related organizations including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, Varsity Club, Renaissance and Student Union. She is a teacher's aide, involved with FCCLA, Yearbook, prom committee, Rowdy Crowd Pep Club and the Pickaway County Livestock 4-H Club. Katie is a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, involved with the church youth group and Leading Edge choir and the Relay for Life. Katie is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Katie has been on the honor roll for four years and was named a student of the month twice. She received the Child Conservation League Annette G. Wills Memorial Award, Outstanding Student of America Award, and the National Council on Youth Leadership Award. Katie is in Who's Who among American High School Students and National Society of High School Scholars. She was Homecoming Queen in 2006.
Katie has served in many positions of leadership including co-editor of the Yearbook, a Relay for Life team captain, has served as the Pickaway Livestock 4-H news reporter, secretary, and vice-president and the student body secretary and treasurer. Katie also volunteers for Toys for Tots, a canned food drive, Stay Tobacco Free Athlete Mentor Program and with summer volleyball and basketball camps.
Katie is a four year letter winner in track, three year letter winner in volleyball, and two year letter winner in basketball. She has served as captain in all three sports. Katie holds school records in track and was honorable mention all-league in track. Katie has been a scholar athlete for four years and is Logan Elm's Wendy's High School All-American Nominee. Katie was named honorable mention all-league in volleyball her junior year and 2 nd team all-league and honorable mention all-district her senior year.
The Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Active Member's Son / Daughter College Scholarships are awarded annually. The student-athlete must be in good academic standing with plans to continue her education after high school.
