FEBRUARY 2, 2006
It’s a wrap! The 2005 season is over and new champions were crowned. Congratulations to Seton, Roger Bacon, Villa Angela St.-Joseph and Sidney Lehman. The OHSVCA was extremely busy during the end of the season hosting the state tournament hospitality room, crowning poll champs, honoring All Ohio selections and running the All Star week-end. Check us out at www.ohsvca.org to see how you can become a more active member.
The OHSVCA made one proposal to the Ohio High School Athletic Association for consideration in 2006.
The OHSVCA proposal is: When the 2/3 format is used, all games are played to 25 points at all levels of play.
This does not change varsity dual matches. All varsity dual matches are played in the 3/5 format. This is asking for all levels of play that use the 2/3 format (seventh, eighth, ninth, junior varsity and varsity multi-team events) to play all three games to 25 points. When your athletic directors come to you about this proposal, please encourage them to vote yes.
All awards and scholarships given through the OHSVCA have a February 28 deadline. As we grow, we are experiencing some growing pains. Coaches are failing to meet deadlines and wanting special exceptions. Please meet your deadlines to the proper trustee or officer. No exceptions will be made. All forms and criteria for awards can be found on the OHSVCA website at www.ohsvca.org. All forms can be typed on and then printed for submission. If you are experiencing problems with our website, please contact the webmaster. Directions are listed on the website.
The NFHS will meet soon to discuss any changes for the 2006 season. As those revisions become public, we will post them on the website. Be careful to stay in compliance with all OHSAA rules and by-laws during the off season. If you are not sure of a rule, please call Dr. Deborah Moore at the OHSAA office for a ruling. Do not jeopardize your or your players’ eligibility!
The OHSVCA is a volunteer organization working diligently to promote and support volleyball in Ohio. If you would like to become more involved in this great organization, please contact your district trustee.
